Today was the revenge of the Dragon Force, Graham Tite delighted that his sails performed well. The wind was blowing down the lake towards the dam and was quite strong causing waves. Robin Webb showed everyone the way home, John Burgoyne came a close second with Mike Stevenson on a number two rig third. Mark Litherland was overpowered by the gusty wind but went well when the wind abated. Liz Robinson kept them all honest. Clive Hartland had a bad hair day with electrical problems. Thanks to Ian Apps for refreshments and smart button pushing Harry Butler for recording and Graham Tite for calling the line even if he needed an occasional nudge. G.S.

A lovely sunny day, large fleet with 14 skippers competing, wind blowing down the lake from the dam. Clive and Mark sharing most of the honours. Don't make Mark angry or he wins. He started well after everyone in the last race throw his boat in the water after a radio malfunction and won the race. Clive seemed to be able to carve through the fleet to finish 1st overall, I think I need sailing lessons from him. John, Robin Sid & Liz running them close. Thanks to Mark for help with setting the marks Ian for wonderful tea and Roger for help with the scoring. G.S.

A very competitive afternoon. Variable winds kept everyone on their toes. Mark Litherland and Clive Hartland going head to head in a very tight contest, both sailing in a very sporting manner, both taking penalties with good grace. At the end of one race Mark was only a fraction in front of Clive. Sid came a very good third. Robin was the first Dragon Force. Alan and Dave ran Robin very close. Brian entertained us as usual. Steve Philpot did well considering it was only his third race. Ian Apps makes the best cup of tea, thanks Ian. G.S

Another competitive afternoons sailing in wonderful weather. The wind was up and down which needed the skippers to concentrate. Liz Robinson performed well and was leading overall at the break but Clive Hartland must have put something in his tea because he came roaring back in the second half to pip Liz overall. Sid Simms won two races, his boat is quite pacey. Rob Hudson put up another great performance. Harry Butler did his impression of David Bailey so expect some brill pictures, he did not need to worry about port or starboard. Thanks to Graham Tite for help with the scoring - when are we going to see the new boat? - and thanks to Ian in the galley. G.S

3rd June 2014
A light westerly which occasionally died to almost still air greeted 14 skippers. It was good to see such a large turnout, with Clive being very impressive. I would like to commend all those who took part for the very sporting manner they sailed. Brian entertained us with his unique sailing style. With the very light winds it was likely that the "proper" RG65s being lighter and carrying a little more sail had the advantage over the Dragons, although as always skipper ability was the most important factor. Special mention to Rob Hudson who was the first Dragon Force. Mark's new boat (99) was going well but one or to wind shifts worked against him. Liz was consistent and will probably be disappointed with her final position. Sid had one runaway win and is probably one to watch for the future. Thanks to Graham Tite with the scoring, Ian Apps for the Tea and Brian Morris for the doughnuts. G.S.
DF+ indicates a DragonForce with aftermarket, i.e. non kit sails. DNF scores fleet+1 = 15 points

6th May 2014
A slightly reduced fleet this month - some on holiday.
The afternoon started with a quite strong gusting North Westerly leaving skippers to ponder if they should change down a rig if available. In the end only Kevin (09) started on No.2 rig and found that he had to change up after race 1 as the wind was easing. As the afternoon went on it became very variable and shifty leading to considerable muttering from those becalmed. Racing turned out to be very close with five skippers having wins and a small spread of points in the top of the results.
Brian (39) had the misfortune to loose his winch and John (43) loosing control with his boat ending up by the weir where it suffered a broken fin (see picture here)and Robin (38) still having sight problems - we hope the experts manage to sort him out next week.
Thanks go to buoy boys Allan Coleman and Graham Saunders who was also O.D. Tea courtesy of Ian Apps.

1st April 2014
No April Fools today as racing took place in pleasant spring-like weather. Light variable SE-S winds made racing a little frustrating at times. A triangular course was laid with a reach at the leeward end. This was reduced in size after two races (during tea break) to speed things up a little. Clive had a great day with some wins by a fair margin. Possibly the lighter RG65s carrying a bit more sail had the advantage in the wind conditions compared to the DragonForce boats.
Rob Hudson a man to watch sailing well with standard kit sails. Graham Tite spent a considerable time tutoring Peter Orme who benefited from this near the end.
John Meredith suffered a DragonForce steering failure in the first race and was allowed to swap to his spare RG65.
Thanks go to Fleet Captain Graham Saunders who kept things moving along and Ian Apps in the galley.

4th March 2014
Well what a great start to the 2014 racing season, our new event for the RG65 class hit the ground running – and how!
The weather played it’s part with a good breeze (most of the time) for this size of boat. The racing was great and very clean with all doing their turns when required but even these were few, well done everyone.
The DragonForce was the boat of choice for the majority, some in standard form and others with aftermarket sails and I believe their skippers were well pleased with their investment.
Welcome to Chris Morris our newest member competing for the first time, he had a couple of minor issues which prevented him doing all 6 races.
I believe that this is going to be a very close class of racing as can be seen from the results with most counting scores from near the front and the rear on their cards. The top three all sailed well and Robins dominant performance won the day.
Let’s hope for more days like this , well done all.
Thanks to Graham Saunders, Graham Tite for race control and John Meredith + Helpers in the galley.
